I'm hoping that SKS with a subscription to FindMyPast might be able to have a look for an overseas marriage for me, as follows:
c1851 - William ALLINSON / Harriet WILLOUGHBY
(My own subscription is with Ancestry - and this is the first time I've had to search abroad!)
Many, many thanks for any help you can give.

Hi Penny
I checked under both names between 1849 and 1853, and in some cases much wider ranges, but afraid no matches under either name.

Many thanks to you all for your replies.
Choccy has found the correct census entries for 1851 and 1861 (Harriet in Preston Capes and the whole ALLINSON family in Monmouth respectively).
On the 1851 census William is an army private stationed at Weedon Barracks (not far from Preston Capes). He was born in c1816 in Naas (possible mistranscription?), Kildare, Ireland. With him was his son (also William) who was born c1840 in Gibraltar.
Harriet obviously "fell for a soldier" because later in 1851 they had their first child, Agnes, who was born in Portsmouth, Hants.
What is missing is William and Harriet's marriage record - I can't see any sign of it on FreeBMD - so wondered if they may have married abroad, or possibly back in Ireland?
If anyone has any further ideas, I would be very grateful!
Thanks again for your help.

Hi Rose ...
Thanks for your replies. Yes, Harriet is Agnes's mother - and I had not spotted that William is recorded as married on the 1851 census entry (but to Harriet or his first wife???).
Unfortunately, I can find no record of Harriet ALLINSON (or WILLOUGHBY), born c1831 in Northamptonshire on any census after that 1861 entry. Neither can I find any death record for Harriet (either surname).
There is a Public Member Tree on Ancestry which has William's first wife (Mary A. UNKNOWN), mother of William born c1840 in Gibraltar, living in Plumstead, Kent, on the 1901 census (which would explain possibly the absence of a marriage for William and Harriet) but on checking the actual entry I cannot see the connection to the ALLINSONs (she is recorded with the surname MORRIS).
Any ideas? (Am off to bed now, but will check back tomorrow!)

Penny,
I see there was another Agnes Bertha Allinson born 1862 in Aston, after the first one died. She is staying with her brother in 1871. She ends up marrying a Willoughby!
The Aston connection led me to find Harriet Pew/Pugh with Samuel. Harriet's details fit perfectly but I can find no marriage. Samuel had a wife in 1861. Will post details later.

This mirrors what I found but they have Harriet's death in 1916.
