Hi Maura

Thanks again for all your help, really!!

Are you able to tell what month Patrick was born in 1833? I am on the pilot search on familysearch.org and have been able to find actual records of their baptisms, marriages and sepulchres based on some of the actual dates which have been provided in this thread.

I have also been on the Lovell Directory for Montreal, but the only time any Jordan's from my family appear in the Montreal directory is Patrick himself in the 1856-57 directory, listed as a laborer. Soon after he is listed as a lumber merchant and owning a company called Jordan & Benard. Looking further you can see the business evolve as they have more shops and move around. It lists their actual home address and the address of the yards. Sadly many of the street names are lost, have to look at an old map to see where everything was.

If Patrick's parents were born in Ireland c. 1815, they must have come to Canada before Patrick's birth c1833. Were they married in Canada or Ireland? There could be other children of this marriage...My guess is perhaps they lived outside of Montreal or the census area until Patrick had a job in the city, living at 35 St Paul Street.

Can you advise on what sites you are using to pull up this info, I'm seriously considering an upgrade if it's pulling up the same info you have been for me! I am from Montreal but live in the UK now, and still fluent.in French!

D
