Hi Mary,

Yes his dad was also named Henry the trouble is he gr grandfather Henry/Aubrey was living a the Castle in Carlisle, I have been in touch with the Castle and they could not help. Elizabeth was living at

1 Collingwood Street Carlisle which was her mother's house.

When Henry/Aubrey had their child Sydney in 1917 they were living at 1 Collingwood Street so do not know if he was away with the army and Elizabeth stayed with her mom very confusing.

Was Henry 1881's dad also Henry.

Mary.

I'm trying to find him on census,if he was a foreman he must have had the job a while.

Have you found Aubrey/Henry on 1901 census.
What was there address on marriage certificate.

Edit Just checked other death records for Carlisle and Cockermouth they say 1a must have changed at some point or maybe they have different Volumes numbers for different records.

Hi Mary,

Sorry I did not reply sooner but I had a hospital appointment and not long got back.

I do have the marriage cert of Henry Porter and Elizabeth P Long the 1911 census details you put up the other child was my grandfather Joseph.

On the marriage cert his occupation was soldier in Army Medical Corps.
They had another son named Sydney born in Nov 1917 and under the occupation it says Private R A M C then it has Flying cannot make out next thing and then also postman.
I did have contact with someone with the parents names you listed but they said there Henry died in London and mine moved to Carlisle. Thankyou for the death reg I had not got that.
Kind regards Paula

Do you have Henry's marriage certificate to Elizabeth Pearson Long.
Does it say his dad was henry? if so what was his occupation and address at time of marriage.

There was Henry 1880 born Lambeth London with parents Henry Porter London City 1854 and Clara 1853 nee Drake.

Henry junior with them 1881/1891 but not 1901.

I can't find relevent Aubrey/Henry in 1901.

Hi JulieInTheBuff,

Thanks for that I am not sure I have my gr grandfather who named Henry Porter he also went by the name of Aubrey he was born c 1881, just trying to find different ways of trying to find out about them.
On the 1911 census Henry was down as living in Carlisle but went under the name of Aubrey it also said he was born Soho London so just clutching at straws.

Thanks so much for looking up for me.

Kind regards Paula

Frances is a girl's name.
Francis is a boy's name.

However in census records I have often seen them both mis-recorded or mis-spelt.
