Peter Report 1 Feb 2010 00:15

Hello all, my relations Frederick Blott and his wife Alice were living in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire in 1891 census.

Frederick Blott was born c. 1857 in Peterborough, Northamonthisre, and Alice Blott was born c. 1867 in Mill Hill, Middlessex.

They had two children (that I know of):

Mary Ann Blott, born 1889 in Middlesbrough
John Blott, born 1891 in Middlesbrough

Apart from a possible death for Frederick Blott in 1920, I can find nothing else at all for any of this family! Can anyone help? I can't see no other deaths/marriages or documents for them in the 1901 and 1911 census.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you!

Peter

If you go to "Search Trees" there are 3 other people with a Frederick Blott, born 1858 in Northamptonshire. One of these may have a link.

Hi Peter, I have just found your entry on this site.
I live near Middlesbrough and have researched theBlotts.
Three Blott brothers , their Mother and a sister came to live here between 1858 and 1880 from SUDBROUGH, Northampton where they were all born (have been). I t is not a common name here but certainly was around the Northampton area.
The brothers were William, John and Joseph, sister Harriet, Charlotte was married when they came and remained in Thrapston, nr. Sudbrough.
Fred was the son of John, b.. 1858 at S/bro died 1920 here and buried in Eston Cemetery as were most of the Blotts around here, married Alice Smitheringale b. 1864 at St. Hilda's Church in 1885
children John 1886-1890,Charles 1890-1, John 1891-2,Mary Ann b.1889 m James Herman 1910x5children
You can contact me on Genes for further info.

Hi Magaret,
All the Blotts in this area are certainly descended from the 3 brothers who originally came to Eston from Sudbrough so you will be related.
In the next generation a branch of the family moved to Hemsworth, West Yorkshire.

Hi Lynn,
I keep thinking that I have completed the Blott's but of course you never finish withF.H. I have done some updating since 1911 census was released and that has certainly thrown a few spanners in the works. You definitely can't make assumptions.
Good to hear from you again,
Regards Joan
