Does anyone know anything about Mary Jane Ash, who died in 1952 in Kidderminster as Mary Pitchford? Very complicated trying to trace her - according to the 1911 census she was married to James Smith and living in Kidderminster with their children - also Smiths. Later children were Pitchford but I can't find that she remarried and am assuming they changed their name for whatever reason. Does anyone know if she is the Mary Ash who married James Pitchford in Wovlerhampton in 1893? |

Her birth place on 1911 census is given as Wolverhampton. The transcript is very poor and there are lots of crossings out etc. Ethell 15, Lelly 9, Harl Ed 7, William 4 , Recehey 2 (my grandmother was Rebecca, born 1908) and Jane 5 months. |

Sorry, forget to say it also said she had been married for 18 years and that James was born in Wolverhampton too but can't find a James Smith and Mary Ash being married at that time? |

Sorry Chris our replies crossed. I know it gives her age as 24 but that wouldn't be possible given Ethell's age and the length of her marriage. |

This is where things get really strange - Loughborough - and Lelly in Cheltenham? |

There is a birth for Mary Jane Ash in Mar q 1872 in Wolverhampton which would tie in with the age on her death certificate. |

No, I can't find them anywhere else - as Smith or Pitchford - so I'm really not sure which one she would be. |

Not them then. Pitchford Children were Mary Ann and James, 1912 and 1916, both born Kidderminster. |

Could Ethel be the child of James Smith and not Mary Jane? |
