I am still flummoxed by Sally Comber who is I am almost certain the daughter of Richard Comber born C1796. He married Sarah in November 1818 and Sally was born a couple of months earlier. I believe she was probably illegitimate and was quite possibly not Sarah's daughter despite sharing a derivative of her name.If this was the case her appearance could clearly have been the cause of some embarrrasment. Does anyone know if it was not the practice to baptise illegitimate children and as Sally seems to be in service in London by the time she was 18 is it likely that she would have been sent away to be raised by a foster family. Any ideas will be welcome

What dates are we looking at please? Where was Sally born? What was Sally's surname?

Sally (or Sarah) Comber is my direct ancestor.Born in 1818 on her marriage cert to James Wilkinson on 24th January 1841 she states her father as Richard Comber Farmer. However other than this I have not been able to establish a direct link between her and Richard.. Shortly after her birth Richard married and had several other children. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
