Find Ancestors

Tracing my maternal side, have hit a very sticky situation. It concearns my 2x G Grandmother Margaret McLean.
She married her husband John swan in 1885 in Glasgow and it gave her parents names as being James McLean & Margaret Sutherland. However when looking for her birth cert in or around 1849 I cannot fnd her.
However in the 1881 Scotland Census states that she was the Stepdaughter of a woman called Margaret McLean. So her father James must of been married at least twice.
Cannot find any of his marriages. Nor can I find either Margarets or James birth records.

What age does it say she was when she married and where does it say that they were all born in the 1881 census? DO the ages in the census and marriage cert tie up?

Checked the parish records for a birth of Margaret McLean father James around the time you said and these came up

What was Margaret's job in the Marriage details ?

Have you got a Marriage on Scotlandspeople for JAMES McCLEAN and MARGARET SUTHERLAND?

The post by June is the Census record that I was referring too, as when Margaret McLean married John Swan they were living at the same addr in Edinburgh.
Had another look at the Marriage Cert and it does add up, so would be same people. John was 31 & Margaret 36 when married. As in the Census in 1881 John was 25 and Margaret 31.
It also looks like where Margaret is somewhat of a pain in the haystack, if I can find her death cert then I maybe find her real mother.
Margarets job in her marriage cert is given what seems to be a Mantlemaker and Johns as a Wood Turner.
Haven't yet found a marriage for James McLean + Margaret Sutherland, but looking at soundex.

I would have expected her married c1875 if born then .What's her age in Marriage Certificate?
