Hello! I am trying to find the ancestors of John & Sarah Stone of Pulborough, Sussex. John was born c.1817 in Pulborough.The census searches I have done have been fruitless. I have the following information which was provided by a helpful person on this forum.

Acopy of one of the children's birth certificates would give you the parent's names and then their marriage certificate would give you their father's names.

I think that John's father is probably the James on the same page as John and Sarah in 1841.

There is this marrige but not to a Sarah. It is about the right year as Jesse was born about 1842.

I suspect that James Stone that you have found on the IGI (wife Sarah) is the same James on the 1861 census (same page as John Stone). He is with his second wife Mary, so the marriage certificate (details already posted) will give his father's name. I also think that the 1841 census (with the Ancestry correction) is the same James,with first wife Sarah (the Sarah Davey that you have found?) and possibly with his mother Ann.

Sorry Root I had to feed the family as mum has an appointment this afternoon.

I am sure I looked this family up before sometime this week!!

I think I may have found John Stone and wife Mary with a baby of 2 weeks old and female on the 1841 census living with a James Richardson and wife Elizabeth.

Yes we did work on this family before Mel. Originally Carlii had asked for help, I think with her grandparents. I have posted the thread number on here on page 1.

I didn't look for John in 1841 so that looks hopeful.

Root that 1841 census for Mary Stone comes up twice. I looked at the first then the second and it is the same names but the NK child is down as 2 on the second one. It is now under Tunbridge. they must have overlapped.

Well now I wonder what is going on????

Mel, that 1841 for James and Mary may be John's brother. If you look at the beginning of the thread (3rd entry) there is the 1841 for John and Sarah, and also the marriage entry which you have just come across.
