Hi, Pllleeease can someone help me. Im searching for my G.G.G Grandfather Robert Waldron. I have managed to trace his life through the censuses (Eldersfield, Gloucs) and the earliest record I have is that of his marriage to Elizabeth Redding in 1828 (Forthampton, Gloucs) and according to censuses he was born approx 1806-1812 in gloucestershire. I am struggling soooo much and I don't know how to find people before the censuses we're made :-(
Can anyone give me ay advice on searching before then and the 1800's Thanks Erika:-) x

Hi Erika.looks like Robert Waldron married Elizabeth redding 1828 at Eldersfield WORCESTERSHIRE..........
He was born there 1812 and died 26.03.1850
There is an Elizabeth Redding born 08.07.1811 daughter of William at Forthampton Gloucestershire..and if this is the right one she was living in Eldersfield whe she married.......
This is all very sketchy and is not confirmed, but might give you a clue.
You need someone with Parish records........which I don't have
I'll have a look around.

I only managed to find Robert Waldron through my Edwin Waldron. He was born illegitimatly to Roberts Daughter the address on the birth certificate matched that of the census I found with his mother Elizabeth and her father Robert. Its just that i have 3 record that say his birth was Eldersfield 1806and 1812 and another with Worcestershire 1806. I then cant find anything in Eldersfield that relates to his family in this area

This is another thing that confuses me. Sometimes the records say Worcestershire and sometimes they say gloucestershire :-S
The Death BMD says Gloucestershire

Erika.........If you Google Eldersfield Worcs..the second entry gives you "Edersfield Registers"........in there you will find, as i have done, thew marriage of Robert and Elizabeth..and the baptisms of their five children. ALSO BURIAL OF ROBERT 26.03 1851 aged 38 (at eldersfield worcs!!!) It appears tha both Robert and Elizabeth were baptsied elsewhere.....but with the full registers to have a go at you should get a start.
As i always say GOOGLE..even the most obscure place..you never know what beauties you'll find..as in this case!!

You can also GOOGLE Forthampton (Gloucs) and get Elizabeths Baptism..daughter of William and Elizabeth direct from the PRS!! Forthampton is on the border, within spitting distance of Eldersfield.. (and i only do derbyshire!!!)

Ok..here is some more simple facts....The daughter of Robert and Elizabeth..called eizabeth..was known as BETSY.
After the death of Robert 1850 (buried 1851) Elizabeth Redding got herself a toyboy 14 years her Junior (John Portman b 1825) and married him at eldersfiel 31.01.1853..and had one childe MARTHA 1854
Elizabeth Redding Waldron Portman was buried at Newent Gloucs 1868 aged 57
There was one other child of Robert and Elizabeth born 1851..who died within a few days.........which begs the question of what happened that caused the death of father and infant child so close together????
and since nobody is acknowledging my several postings on this thread...I think i'll stop wasting my time and move back to my own Threads!!!

Perhaps a bit harsh on Erika, becasue i see she has replied on my PM.....it is much easier, and better, to reply to a posting to click on the Purple "Reply" button..and the send by pressing the purple "Submit" button.

tis a bit harsh Derek!!!! not to worry, think Erika is new - I've had a pm from her as well and she's having a problem putting this information into context I think.
As Derek says Erika, use the purple reply button under your heading rather than sending us private messages - easy to do, have a go!!!

Well, I was just browsing through this thread before heading for bed, and thought "that is our Derek from Who are we Looking for in Derbyshire", and I haven't seen him on general threads much, he will be worth listening to. And he was.
Derek, it is quite common for responders to put a lot of work in before the original poster gets back, we usually just sit back and wait for a few days. Very frustrating, but just a fact.
Keep up the good work pal.
