My GGGgrandmother claimed to be married in the 1881 census but didn't actually tie the knot until 1890 when she was 6 mths gone with her 7th child!!

My great grandparents did exactly the same thing, claimed to have married the year before my grandmother was born but they didn't actually marry until she was two years old.

Chrisa, I really owe you, thank you very much indeed......so she claimed she was married to him a full six years before she actually was!.....and to think they say things like this didn't happen in 'the good old days'

I'm not thus far aware of any middle names Chrisa, but according to 1901 census, she was born Northwich, Cheshire - but I know from experience, you cant put too much reliance on that

Chrisa, I think (but don't know for sure), that Elizabeth married a Michael Foley in 1917 - some years after the census I know, but I believe she had a son (John H) around 1910 who took the surname Foley.

Do you know the first name of the 'Foley' you suspect she was living with?

Chrisa, you are a star....but I didn't expect that?....living with grandparents??....I'm fairly positive Alfred (her dad) died, so where was her mother Elizabeth?.......you couldn't look and see if she's there could you?....in 1911 she's have been about 39 years old, and there does seem to be a connection with the surname Foley.
