Help Please there are only so many brick walls a girl can hit,

I am trying to find Sarah Ann Haw Birth about 1849-1851 I can find her on the census Married to Edward Edney living in Bermondsey, Surrey England and I think I have found their marriage cert 1871 St Olaves J/A/Sept but I can't find a birth cert or her appearing on a census b4 her marriage.

I have had hints saying Edward Edney married Sarah Ann Clarke but I can't find any information of this, and the hints don't have any either.

This is the last piece in the jig-saw that connect to family's who have been friends for years and didn't know they where related.

Can anyone HELP

Penny

Thank you Helen and Gillian

Helen you have the right family, now its just trying to work out who Sarah Ann Edney was nee. Thank you for adding this information as I wasn't sure how to do it.

I did try putting different ways of spelling Haw, but it never came back with the same results as you got Gillian, most of my results were up north, I wish the postman would hurry up and come with the marriage cert now.

That 1861 is so difficult to read. Do you think the father's name could be Edmund instead of Edward???
Name: Edmund How
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1827
Year of Registration: 1869
Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec
Age at Death: 42
District: St Olave Southwark (1837-1901)

Good luck,Theresa. Don't frighten the postman!!!!

I don't know it could be the only things I'm sure about are its Edward Edney and Sarah Ann ????. Maureen you know my relationship with the postman, when I want something in a hurry he's on a go slow.

This is sooooooooo like a rerun of the Bouic.

Thanks you guys keep the information coming, and if the postman plays ball we will have some answers next week

Oh and the records office

Any good?

Births Dec 1849 (>99%)

HOW Sarah Ann St Pancras 1 279

GillianMac Report 28 Jul 2009 13:13

Had another squint at the birthplace for Edward in 1861 and think it could be Easthampstead, Berkshire -coincidentally the IGI has an Edward How b Easthamstead BUT in 1658!

GillianMac

GillianMac Report 28 Jul 2009 13:28

Maureen in NY -think you could be right and he is Edmund!
There is a marriage 1845 Dec Q Kensington vol3 page 298 which woud fit

Edmund How to Rachel Suter

GillianMac

GillianMac Report 28 Jul 2009 13:38

And here they are in 1851 (looks like the place of birth for Edmund is Hampstead not Easthampsted!)
1851 Islington 3 Alpha Place East
Edmund How 28 Carrier b hampstead Middx
Rachael How 31 b Islington
William 5 b Islington
Harriet 61 wid mother b Hampstead

GillianMac

GillianMac Report 28 Jul 2009 14:17

And to confuse things still further there is a baptism on the IGI for Edmund How 3/2/1828 son of Joseph and Harriet in HEMEL HEMPSTEAD!
And 1841 has an Edmund How 15 as Male servant in the household of Thomas (of independent means) and Sarah How in Hemel Hempstead
Thats it from me -will await with baited breath the arrival of the postman!

The other potential couple on the 1871 marriage page

MUSGROVE Anna Maria St Olave 1d 254
PILLER George St Olave 1d 254

make a pretty good match with this couple (both born Devon) in 1881 in Southwark St John Horsleydown:

George Piller 34
Maria Piller 35
Charles Piller 7 - born Bermondsey
Jane Piller 6
Henry Piller 2
John Piller

So I'm placing my bet on that marriage cert being Haw-Edney. ;)
