Hi I'm looking for a death record for Thomas J Nye
He was born in Brentford in 1918. Mother's name Bills.

I cannot find a death record of him. I think he would have died as an infant or child as my grandad Ronald Nye only had a sister (that we knew of). There were previously 2 infant deaths before the 1911 census too. One being Christopher T L Nye who died in 1911 at a few months old. I haven't searched for the other yet.

Thanks

Samantha

Hi Jean

Its unlikely, I should have mentioned the family lived in Brentford/Ealing for many years, the Mother Bills died in 1921 and the family moved but still lived in Ealing. The Father Nye re-married and another daughter was born in 1929 Brentford. I ordered his wedding cert to the daughters mother and he was married in Southend on Sea. This has though baffled me. The year of marriage is 1928 but like I said the daughter was born in Brentford 1929.
Between 1919 and 1927 Father Nye is in the Ealing directories to say he is living in ealing. 1928 he is not listed. So he must have been in Southend for that time.

thank you for your reply though

If its the only one, then I may just order it.

They moved around a bit so it might be hard to track down the births and deaths.

In 1901 they are in Hoo registration district.

Yes thats right

They were both in Kent, they then lived with her parents in 1901.
In 1908 the were in Kensington where there daughter was born.
1910/11 in Croydon where a so was born and died. Also on the 1911 Census.
1914 ealing where my grandfather was born.
1919-1927 in the ealing directories (I haven't checked before this)
1929-1938 in the ealing directories. Father Nye died in 1938. His 2nd wife is listed in 1939. The records between this and 1944 are missing. 1945 new people at the address.

Hope this helps

Thanks
Samantha

I think I'll just give up for now. I have been looking on and off for a while. I'll order the birth cert to confirm he's my guy. (I'm pretty sure he is) I just don't understand where he could have got to, unless he was adopted out but then why wasn't my grandfather who was only 4 yrs older. Maybe when the mother died another family member took him in.

Thanks all

Samantha

I'm just pushing this up to see if anyone new has any ideas. I ordered the birth cert and its definately my grandfathers brother. I still can't find a death or marriage or anything on him. No family member knows anything about him. There is a death for a Thomas W J Nye in Medway and the family were originally from there, but this is not him.

Thanks in advance

Must be the Devonport death. Not other Thomas J Nyes born 7 years before that. Where there any relatives that lived that way?

his middle name is Joseph.

I'm still not convinced by the Davenport one but am checking the area on google to see if its anywhere near where the extended family lived.

Thanks

Rose

I will order the cert, I have no idea why he would be there if it is him. Maybe they went on holiday or something and he died. I guess he would be registered there then.

Thanks for your help

This may or may not help, but he may be the Thomas Nye taken into the Dengate family (Northiam, Rye, Sedlescombe) A member of the Dengate family married into the Nye family, and a child was taken in for some time, who I believe was a cousin. Obviously, this is verbal family history, but may be a clue for you. The Dengate Family Website may help a little, the Nyes are on there somewhere!

Thanks Mummycool

I've had a brief look but am pretty certain they are not related. I have yet to come across the name Dengate. Thanks for the idea though. Its exactly what I need, fresh ideas. Lets see what the death cert of the over Thomas J says. Fingers crossed :)
