I have my mothers birth cert which was a short one. It was only after research I found her parents didnt marry till she was 14 months old. |

You have to work out what time of year your father was born against the date of the census. Can't remember offhand teh date of the 1911 but it would be around the end of March/beginning of April. They would put his age down. When it's transcribed they just knock that number of years off 1911 to give an estimated year of birth. |

Thanks very much Choccy. Interestingly my father's birth(Thomas Simpson) was actually in 1908 but it must be the sanme family as his sister's name and year are correct . |
