Not sure if it the correct thred Sally. I have 2 Elizabeth Sanders in my tree, 1 born on 1857 but it can't be her as she died in childhood in 1867. The other was born in 1865 so this one could be too young? If you think there may be a connection I can send more information.

Hi Sally
I know this family. My wife is a Sanders descended from the Sanders of Hatfield, Herts.
John Sanders b 1821 married Fanny Mabbray b 1821 Ireland.
John was a Musician in the Horse Guards based in Windsor. The children shown in the 1861 Census are correct.
If you want any further info please contact me.

Martin

Hi Dea,

It is amazing how much info i get about all sorts, we are so used to having everything "just so" now, that we forget things were not like that years ago.

The people on GR have been brill with their help on many names.

Have a good weekend

Hi,

I would not discount what has already been found - just because it did not say 'deceased' on marriage cert does not necessarily mean that the father was not dead !!

This is VERY comnmon

I can't see Elizabeth living close to the witnesses in 1871, Hannah and Daniel live 2 doors away from eachother though.

Was hoping that Hannah and Elizabeth were friends living close to eachother!!!

I'll keep digging.

this could be elizabeth in the 1871 census but only a possibility but it states her mother fanny was a widow does it say her father had died by the time she married
or does it give elizabeths occupation on the marriage cert

Hi Dea,
I am not at my house at the mo, so don't have cert with me. I know the bride and groom were both 18 when they married, Elizabeth Sanders married a James Baylis. He was a plasterer. Think i remember they both lived at Calton Rd Gloucester. Elizabeth's Father was John Sanders - it looked like Bugle Major as occupation !!!!!! i wonder what it was???? and no i hadn't been drinking !!!!!! the cert only came yest but i was called away so haven't looked properly.
thanks
Sally
