In the 1911 census there is an Alice Gregory,assistant teacher in Kendal as a boarder- i dont know if this is her ?
as on the 1910 birth certificate of Kenneth Carlton it states Kendal and Thomas Archibald is a boatbuilder

She married Thomas Archibald Capner in 1922 Bedford. Kenneth Carlton was one of the sons born 1910 Kendal. I cant find her or Thomas Capner ,boatbuilder on the 1911 census. He already had a family .so that is why they called the children surname Gregory not Capner on the birth certificate of Kenneth. Its all a bit of a mystery

So he did marry her after all.!!
As you know,,the certificate will show his dads name.which will make it easier to find him in earlier census

Karen, in 1881 the censu shows he is a widow..If you go to Family Search you can view this census for free,
It also shows he has Frederick Hornby -bro-in-law living with him , so his first wife's name looks like it would be the same,
He also has a servant,, Eliza Newton,,,maybe he married her ?
As his has given different ages on the census , he's provong a bit of a bugger to find..lol..
