I also have the same problem with my research.

One who says she was born in Inverurie, Perthshire. (Inverurie is in Aberdeen) ....

Next census ... she says she's born in Glasgow, Lanarkshire

also just found that Sancreed comes under Penzance in Cornwall!

Although George's birthplace is given as Sancreed Sussex, I wouldn't rely on that too much given the other misinformation over the years.

Horsham seems to figure in the family location history so this might be worth thinking about.

Looks to me like the first three children are by the first wife,who i suspect must have died,and the last one Sarah by the new wife Emma.
This shows me where to look now for the children's births

I was having another look at the 1871 census and it doesn't say William's name was William Robert ... just William.

I have had a good look and nothing is jumping out at me

I also think that the dad had trouble remembering where the kids were born,but he has both the girls in the sussex area any way even if it's the wrong place!

I don't know if these sisters lied about there birth details on purpose or not!
Just shows you can't believe every thing you read on the census
because Phoebe keeps saying she was born in Peckham as well
Strange Pair!

According to the 1871 census, Pheobe is noted as being born in Thorley, Sussex.

this is the problem i have been having,Bethany called herself Amy on nearly every census after her marriage and even said that she was born in Peckham on most of them
She was born as far as i can tell in Eastborne as stated on the 1901 census where she also gives her full name

She married Robert Faulkner on the 30th Sept 1878 in St Mary Magdalene parish church in Peckham
On the cert she says she is Amy!

this family are so hard to trace,I've been looking for ages for any thing
I got Bethany's marriage cert yesterday and on it every one is illiterate,
She say's her fathers name is Robert,i think he was probably know as Robert
But as you can see from the 1871 it's William Robert

you would think that with names like Bethany and Phoebe in the same household searching would be easy!

It's sort of looking like the first wife died giving birth or something like that
