Hello,

I am looking for some family in the census, and I thought I would post the people I am interested on here. I am looking for the individuals in the census after they married.

Thomas Hogg, and his wife Ann. Thomas was born in 1832 in South Otterington, Yorkshire. He married in Thirsk in 1855.

Jane Gatenby, the wife of Christopher Gatenby married in Dec 1857 in Thirsk. She was born in 1835 in South Otterington, Yorkshire.

Fanny Myers, the wife of Charles Myers, who was a plumber. She married in Mar 1861 in Thirsk. She was born in 1837 in Newby Wiske, Yorkshire.

Mary Kettlewell, the wife of John, who married in Mar 1861 in Thirsk. She was born in 1839 in Newby Wiske.

Ann Crossley, the wife of William Crossley. She was bon in 1843 in Newby Wiske.

Margaret Earle, the wife of John W. Earle, who married in 1872. She was born in 1848, and John was a cabinet maker.

1881 is free........so why not start there?

And, personally, I would rather see one thread per name..........it could get very messy with postings relating to multiple family names.

As I said, that would be my preference.......others may not see it the same way.............

Yes, one thread per name is better especially if you get into difficulty.

Peter it looks as if you're new at this because it's unusual to go forward from people. The family history rule is to work back from what is known - yourself, parents, grandparents, etc. However you may be checking on siblings.

Thank you for your help and in future I will remember to use moer than one thread - I agree this could get messy, I just didn't want to take up too much space, so to speak.

I will try familysearch ... I had forgotten about that.

Yes, I am looking at siblings, but from one specific family. I am thinking of using some of this research as part of my degree; I will examine one family, and set their lives and circumstances against the wider socio-economic and political background of the UK.

I hope this explains why I set it out like this.
