Well done AoGG - I'm not sure where that all leads him but it is certainly very useful - the Russian Embassy perhaps??

Isn't it interesting how the male surnames are all Filin whereas the females are Filina??

Worth noting if any of them came over here, which I presume at least one of them must have?

Also, they all seem to have a middle name which refers to their father 'Nickoley' - I presume Nickolaevich must mean 'son of Nickoley and 'Nickolaevna' would mean - daughter of Nickolay ??

So - you can work out their parents' names from theirs - 'easy peasy' or what???

Gosh, you learn something new every day don't you??

That's amazing, Ann! When I saw the post I just ignored it, Thinking what are the chances of finding anything. You just never know, do you?

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 4 Jan 2009 19:21

you really never do - I must admit I usually go for unusual names - found this on the Mormon LDS site

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 4 Jan 2009 19:23

you are so right about the names Dea - very interesting

I must say I hadn't taken any notice of the dates until just now and am amazed how recent they are

To find anything is amazing I agree and thank you AoGG

I don't think it is him though as I have learnt only today that his father was called Ivan.

I've also today been give this more detailed information that I wish I'd had before I made my original post

Fedor was born in Russia (near if not in Moscow) 13 March 1920

Fedor married Nora Tynan somewhere in Leeds 19 June 1948

Fedor died 23 October 1989

The marriage certificate only states "Ivan" and "Russia" as his fathers name and Place of birth.

Many thanks for your help!

Gav

it's a rotten feeling Dea - one minute you think you are the best thing since sliced bread and the next minute it all turns pear shaped, or t--s up!!!!!

Dea

Dea Report 5 Jan 2009 08:03

Good morning AoGG,

I know that feeling very well - I have experienced it many times myself!

Never mind - 'another day's hunting' lies before us.
