Do you know much about the lynex family? They're a source of great confusion for me!

A Hannah Lynex married Henry Stanley in Edgbaston in 1846, and from the marriage certificate I know that her father's name was John, and that he was a harness maker. This is all the definite information that I have.

I found a John and Mary Lynex on 1841 census with children William, John, Richard and Hannah. Hannah seems to be the right age to marry Henry in 1846.

Any help would be fantastic!!
Thanks, Beth

Jacqueline

sorry, sorry, I was getting confused (again) the Henry Lynex on 1881 census, I was thinking he may be a brother to James discussed earlier in the thread, James was Henry's father (Henery I was originally looking for)
1818 was James year of birth. James son was Henry born 1843, this other Henry was born 1833 so maybe a brother?
thanks for your patience : /

another Henry, maybe a brother to James? do you know of a way to find out before census records?

MargaretM Report 31 Dec 2008 21:12

Is this your James on IGI?
James Lynex christened 5 Apr. 1818, St. Matthew, Walsall, Staffordshire. Parents Richard & Kitty.
If so there are these with same parents:
Richard, chr. 15 Feb. 1824, died 1 Mar. 1824.
Emma, chr. 26 June 1825.

You're asking about a brother of James born 1818? Do you have his name? If not, how do you know his birth year?
There's this one:
1851 census
Upper Rushall St., Walsall
Edwin Lynex, head, 34, china dealer
Sarah, wife, 32
Susan, dau, 11
Julia, dau, 9
George, son, 7
Eliza, dau, 4
Fanny, dau, 9 months
Benjamin Bates/Baty?, bro-in-law, 21, harness maker
All born Walsall except Sarah born Hanly and Benjamin born Bradley.

Whoa! Three Eliza Lynex's died in Walsall. 1852, 1853 and 1857.

A James Lynex and a Mary Mountfort married in 1859. Possible?

Oops, I don't know, Jacqueline! Further research required here.
The son Henry James matches, even to the fact that he's a saddler.
Wonder if James was married twice?

Jacqueline

Jacqueline Report 31 Dec 2008 15:27

Margaret thanks but I have a different wife for James Lynex?! Eliza Holland? Am I wrong?
