I realise now that you meant Iris's brother...........your reference to 'grandma' meant nothing to me. |

Nooo, it was her brother, because their father was Robert Rawson Brown. But my parents think the J.W. Brown is James W Brown. |

I wasn't asking for an exact date..........just some info alittle less vague than we have had so far............. |

Ericthered - Yeah I know, if I knew the exact date of death and that I would have said it. All I know is she was in her 90's and died during the 80's, yes it goes on memory so I know its difficult. |

Yeah that's exactly what I'm starting to think. I'm gonna go round my grans and look for some kind of help. Thanks. |

There is no death in Nottinghamshire for Florence Brown aged over 90 between 1984 and 1990. |

Maybe Iris wasn't born as a Brown. If Florence was married to someone else when she gave birth to Iris and then remarried afterwards, Iris could have taken the name of her stepfather. |

Do you have a copy of Ronald and Iris's marriage certificate? That should tell you any previous names that Iris may have had. |

I meant Florence. Her surname when she died in the mid 80's was Brown. She was in her late 90's. |

Let us have just two facts, please. |

"Her surname was Brown when she died" - Do you mean Iris or Florence? Either way, if both ladies married at some point then Iris's birth won't be registered under Brown. |

Yeah that's what I don't get, we know for a fact that's her birthday but no births in Derby or Nottingham. |
