Sorry it states it on the marriage cert

Sue C

Sue C Report 28 Nov 2008 17:16

Mother's age wont be stated on a birth cert.

Joan

Joan Report 28 Nov 2008 17:08

The only birth cert that I have from his first marriage is for the 2 girls named Harriet which the mother is Elizabeth Kirk her age is stated as full age

Joan

Joan Report 28 Nov 2008 17:05

This is definitely him in Melton Mowbray in 1891 I'm not absoulutely sure that his first wife was Elizabeth

Sue C

Sue C Report 28 Nov 2008 17:01

Do you have a birth cert for one of William's children from his first marriage for the name of mother?

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 28 Nov 2008 15:22

In 1891 William is at 12 King St., Melton Mowbray. He was 33, born Nottingham, general dealer.
Is this him in 1881?
18 White St., Nottingham
Age 27, born Nottingham, mason's labourer
Married to Elizabeth with children William 3 and Elizabeth 1.
(Don't think so?)

Joan

Joan Report 28 Nov 2008 15:11

I know which makes me think he has lied on the 1891 and 1901 census as well as his marriage cert his age on his cert to Annie says 29

Joan

Joan Report 28 Nov 2008 15:07

It says F.W.K which I presume is Frame Work Knitter

Sue C

Sue C Report 28 Nov 2008 15:07

Something doesn't add up here. If William was born 1858, he would only have been 13 in 1871.

Joan

Joan Report 28 Nov 2008 15:06

They had 2 Harriets one born 1884 who died then another in 1886

Joan

Joan Report 28 Nov 2008 15:02

Its a real headache Sue I just don't know where to go

Sue C

Sue C Report 28 Nov 2008 15:02

What was gg grandfather's occupation on the marriage of g grandfather to Elizabeth Kirk? Was he still a framework knitter?

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 28 Nov 2008 14:58

William Burrows didn't marry Annie Caunt until 1889 so William & Annie are definitely his from previous marriage but what about Harriet who was born 1887?

Sue C

Sue C Report 28 Nov 2008 14:53

This must be the 1881 you refer to.

William senior 's occupation FWK (framework knitter)

Hi Margaret
Yes we think he was married to an Elizabeth Kirk they married 16th Oct 1871 but in the age it says full age which doesn't help on birth dates I have found this a real challenge.

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 28 Nov 2008 14:38

Your William must have been married previously? In 1891 son William is 13 but wife Annie only 23.

Joan

Joan Report 28 Nov 2008 14:19

Hi Sue
The genealogist found that the son William unmarried in the 1881 census living with his widowed father which wouldn't explain Williams son born 1878

Joan

Joan Report 28 Nov 2008 14:15

Hi
She said that she had found William son of William and Francis married and living in Sheffield in 1881 and 1891

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 28 Nov 2008 14:03

It certainly looks as if your family is William & Frances.
