Well, well thank you all very much, you've all been busy while I was snuggled up in bed with a headache and a couple of pain killers. By the way I beat you 36C!

Overzealous (lazy) enumerator, or parent -- ages were supposed to be rounded down in 1841 only for adults / over 15s.

I've long had a feeling that some people rounded their ages down in 1841 and then just stuck with the number they'd picked. I have a 2xgr grfather who is just too consistently 20, 30, 40 etc. yrs old, and I don't trust his math. Not that I can find him being born or his parents marrying anywhere, anyhow.

32JJ ??? Good grief Ann! I just about make a 32C - but not all makes - I'm between a B and a C. My OH reckons they're like two pickled onions on an ironing board!

That's them Evie - I think the enumerator has rounded down the ages of some of the children as they are not two sets of twins!

That's the one I found but I found a reference to a Mary Beddow marrying William Ellis and having 9 children. Not sure if there are two of them or if I'm wrong with my info. This will spur me on to send off for Joseph's birth cert (which I should have done but am currently working on my elusive grandfather so this file has been moving down the heap of things to do for a couple of months now!).

This is connected to my OH's side.

I did his tree - more for his mum who is 87 than for him as he's not that interested.

I gave a copy of the tree to mum's brother who is 88.

Brother's wife said "Bet you can't find my family" And that was it - I was off down the Quinnell/Queenall route. Still have to send off for a few more certs here and there. But have a few of Aunty's photos - I need to go and check which ones are which.

I think Mary Ann might be Mary Ann Beddow but not sure yet as have not ordered that cert.

The pub shows as The Bridge Inn, Oakengates, Wombridge. Or The Bridge Inn, Teague's Lane, Wombridge. Thomas spent most of his life as a cordwainer or bootmaker though. He only seemed to run the pub for a few years I think. Apparently he worked for Jimpsons the shoemakers. They became the British United Shoe Co.

That was me that made the Ancestry correction after spending ages trying to find them. I thought they'd be really easy to track down with a name like that! Huh!

Pout. I keep hoping for cousins when I see a familiar and somewhat unusual surname here, but they always turn out to be the *other* ones.

Lallie - I put the name of the pub in google and came up with some interesting stuff about the area - tells you how many pubs were in that small area - sadly could not find the name of your pub but I'm sure if you spent a bit of time on google you would find it

EvieBeavie

EvieBeavie Report 17 Nov 2008 22:56

In 1871, they are in Wombridge, transcribed imaginatively again.

(I just searched for Thomas Que* born c1827 Sussex.)

Aaron Queenall 7
Adline Queenall 4
Frederic Queenall 14
Henry Queenall 11
Mary A Queenall 44
Thomas Queenall 44

The same trick did not find a marriage at

http://www.freebmd.org.uk

If you do not know Mary Ann's surname, you might want to find one of the children's birth registrations there and obtain the certificate.

This looks like it could be him in 1861. An Ancestry user has corrected the name. That person can be contacted through the Ancestry system. She did not say how/whether she is related.
