Thanks Richard, very grateful. I can trace Daniel from his marriage (have his cert etc.) its just his birth and origins that are causing me a problem. There's always got to be one hasn't there? Mine is Daniel!!

What was Jane's maiden name? Wonder if she's in 1841? Not that that will help much but she might be living in the area where she was born.

Iv`e just had a look at it.... it looks like chip.....? squiggle......

I wonder if its Chipstead or Chingford or Chidden or even Cheam..... I don`t think the enumerator finshed writing the word.... I wouldn`t have thought any of those places would be considered to be near Chelsea, I havn`t seen Chelsea described as being in Surrey, its usually Middlesex or London.

Remeber if you are struggling to find a birth record that registeration wasn`t compulsory until 1875 so he may not have been registered.
