Hmm, thank you. A possibility but Elizabeth appears to be missing, I suppose she could have been elsewhere at census time (especially as we aren't certain of her age!) and, even if that IGI record from 1815 is correct John could have always remarried a Mary...Is there any record for him in 1851?

Hi, a few weeks ago I posted a request for look ups for the following family (taken from 1861 census):

1861 census
3 Albion St., Rotherhithe, Surrey
John Cook, head, 38, master mariner M service, born Essex, Romford
Elizabeth, wife, 39, born Yorks, Doncaster
George H., son, 12, born Yorks, Goole
*Thomas, son, 11, born Goole
Priscilla, dau, 9, born Goole
Ann E., dau, 7, born Rotherhithe
Lydia, dau, 5, born Rotherhithe
Louisa, dau, 1, born Rotherhithe

I also had the following information from Gwen, the father's name maes sense but she seems rather older than the 1861 census implies (although I wouldn't be surprised if she had been fibbing slightly!):

' hi helen,
found this on the igi could be your elizabeth.........
christening.....1st feb 1815 elizabeth guest doncaster,yorkshire
parents....john guest & Ann.'

I have now received John and Elizabeth's marriage cert showing the following information:

Married 24/04/1845 in Hook, Goole. Names John Cook and Elizabeth Guest, both single, of full age, and resident in Goole. John was a mariner, no occuption for Elizabeth. Parents John Cook, joiner and John Guest, mariner.

So...does this new information help to find them on the 1841 or 1851 censuses please?

Many thanks for any information!

Helen
