Hi, a few weeks ago I posted a request for look ups for the following family (taken from 1861 census): |

the only John Guest who was a Mariner in 1841 |

Hmm, thank you. A possibility but Elizabeth appears to be missing, I suppose she could have been elsewhere at census time (especially as we aren't certain of her age!) and, even if that IGI record from 1815 is correct John could have always remarried a Mary...Is there any record for him in 1851? |

I can't find him in 1851. |

Thank you both! I think it's likely that Elizabeth was in service then but I suppose either of those results could be possible. Thanks for the 1851 for John Guest, Christine. Possible given the daughter Emma (same as 1841 although the other children don't tie up) and I suppose that he could have changed occupation, maybe he felt too old for marinering! |

The witnesses are William Tasker (not certain of first letter of surname) who means nothing to me but the other is Mary Guest (maybe a sister - such as in the 1841 census!). |

no Tasker/Guest or Tasker/Cook marriages that fit! |

Hi, could anyone please check IGI for the Cooks if the censuses are proving difficult to locate (I can't access it on my PC at the mo)? I see that there are some deaths for John Cooks in Romford on free BMD so John Cook senior may have also been dead by the time of the marriage. |

Thanks for checking Samspade...I was wondering whether there was any connection with the Cookes of Gidea Hall (Romford) so rather hoped we might be able to get a bit further back on this line. Oh well! |

It's near Colchester...bit far from Romford but possible John junior was born there and the family then moved. Are you able to provide the details for 1851 please? |
