Hi can anyone help please with any parish records for Camborne area Cornwall. The 1841 census shows Jane Symons age 20 living with her mother Patience, but no mention of her father - I am looking for Patience maiden name and her husbands (Jane;s father) christian name and any date of their marriage.

Any info will be much appreciated.
Thank you Elaine !!

Elaine

I didn't find a marriage for the right time period for an Oliver and a Patience ....... I did find the Oliver and Peternell.

That's why I suggested that Patience might be a second wife and NOT the children's mother.

It was in trying to find a marriage for Oliver and Patience, that I found the one for the younger Oliver.

You will have to try to find parish registers for the baptism of the children to see if the mother is named.

Here you are ...... baptism record of Augusta from www.familysearch.org ..... the web site I gave you above.

It's free so you can go looking yourself.

Just be very wary of SUBMITTED records, as they ahve no backing documentation.

This does say parents Oliver andPatience, so may be my finding of a marriage between liver and Peternell is wrong

Hi Sylvia
Yes I found a marriage record for Peternel King and Oliver Symons - I wasn't looking looking outside the box - on 1841 census Jane was 20 so I was looking for a marriage around 1818 ish not 1813, the sons Oliver and Thomas probably wouldn't have still been living at home at the time of the 1841 census as they would have been in their 20s - I think it possible that Peternel and Patience might be the same person - Peternal is a very unusual name - what do you think?

Elaine

Elaine

Elaine Report 31 Oct 2008 19:16

I aalso think that looking at the names of Janes's children when she got mattied to Frederick Nicholas, they have children named August, Oliver Thomas - possibly Oliver and Peternel and also Oliver and Patience
Elaine

well, there are 24 Peternell xxxxxx on the 1841 census, from all over England!

BUT no Peternell Symons

Elaine

Elaine Report 31 Oct 2008 20:18

The more I look at all this the more I am becomeing convinced that Peternell and Patience are the same may be a particular minister made the entries in the original registers whose handwriting wasn't very plain, I have never heard the name Peternell, guess I am going to have to go down and look at the original records.
but thanks again for everything
Elaine
