An amusing one this is if not a little puzzling.

Amos Armstrong was born in 1850 in Goldington Bedfordshire ( father James ) in 1861 he was at home in 1871 he was a police constable in St Savoir London BUT
in 1881 he had moved to Beighton Derbyshire married Martha Staniforth nee Mitchell ( in 1876 ) and changed his name to James and was a general labourer. He married Martha as James Armstrong.
Not to be confused with his cousin James Armstrong b 1847 in Goldington Beds and a police constable in London.
In 1886 Martha died leaving 3wk old twins and 3 other children to James / Amos plus 3 Staniforth children at home.
1891 saw the twins adopted and the other 6 children with their elder sister.
The question is where did James / Amos go to as I can't find him anywhere ?????

Can anybody else please ?
