agreed Frank! James Alexander McLauchlin (spelling later changed several times) supposedly born 14/05/1834 in Liverpool. He also provided three different names for his mother, one on his birth record in the family bible, (do not have a birth certificate) another on his marriage certificate, and yet another was listed on his death certificate. Unusual was his fathers name remained constant as being Danny McLauchlin.....I remain convinced he was quite probably illigitimate so am not really hopeful of finding his family. I did find a young child I believe to be him in the 1841 census living in Liverpool with what could have been his grantparents (of older ages) He became a sailor and sailed to Australia, married in Castlemaine 20/11/1860 and then moved on to NZ where he is buried having died 02/05/1884. I don't think that I have sufficient information to make any break throughs on him. |
