agreed Frank! James Alexander McLauchlin (spelling later changed several times) supposedly born 14/05/1834 in Liverpool. He also provided three different names for his mother, one on his birth record in the family bible, (do not have a birth certificate) another on his marriage certificate, and yet another was listed on his death certificate. Unusual was his fathers name remained constant as being Danny McLauchlin.....I remain convinced he was quite probably illigitimate so am not really hopeful of finding his family. I did find a young child I believe to be him in the 1841 census living in Liverpool with what could have been his grantparents (of older ages) He became a sailor and sailed to Australia, married in Castlemaine 20/11/1860 and then moved on to NZ where he is buried having died 02/05/1884. I don't think that I have sufficient information to make any break throughs on him. |

Thank you for that suggestion. It could explain why I have not been having much success with this family, also my McLauchlan family. |

Perhaps Robert didn't emigrate.....as these would tie in with what is known about him.....1891 is the same place as he was 1861 |

When you are searching on Scotlands People for MacIntyre remember that Mac and Mc were often interchanged. If you use the wild card and use M*intyre for the surname it will show results for both MacIntyre nad McIntyre. |

I'm off to work the night shift now but I will look again tomorrow and see what else I can find......I may also go to Greyfriars but most of it is cordoned off at the moment as recent weather has caused some of the graves to become unstable |

Hi. As has already been suggested, it would be better to look at the Scotlands People site for these records. |
