Hi Kay

Thanks for that - I think I must be going round somewhere with my eyes shut! Although even after being given the information on here I have rechecked the search facilities I have access to and still not found the details.
I too know most of these areas quite well so its really easy to imagine where my ancestors were living!
Thanks again
Ness

I am overwhelmed by all of your generosity!
Thanks to you all for your efforts.

At present I dont know the parents of Rose, Albert & Kezia. I only found Rose today!

But between you all I have alot to be looking at - how/why did the children end up at this address without their parents? Was it the equivalent of our foster/care homes or where the older members of the house related to the children. Ultimately I need to identify the parents - which may mean ordering a birth cert - probably Kezias to identify gender as well!

I cant believe how the time flies while doing this!

I dont know what I keep doing but I keep losing my replies before posting!

Tracey I came to same conclusion re the relationships shown on the 1891 census - all over the place! I havent managed to explore any chance of the children being related to the house members.

Well somebody got something wrong somewhere didnt they!! LOL I have just had a look at my g-mothers birth cert and that identifies the sex of the child so that would be the only sure way to find out.

I am inclined to think the death registered is the one - despite the spelling difference as there appears to be no other trace. Just got to find Albert now!

Thanks girls!

PS Im posting this before I lose it again!!!!

I think you might have to bite the bullet and order Kezia's birth cert and see whom the parents were...

Kezia is a female name. This is from googling

The girl's name Kezia \k(e)-zia\ is pronounced ke-ZYE-ah. It is of Hebrew origin, and its meaning is "cassia tree". Cassia is the generic name for a variety of trees and shrubs, one of which produces cinnamon. Biblical: one of the three fair daughters of Job. The name was adpoted by the Puritans and introduced to the US in the 18th century.

Kezia has 10 variant forms: Kazia, Kessie, Kessy, Ketzia, Ketziah, Keziah, Kezzie, Kissie, Kizzie

The transcriber has his knickers in a twist....

Ada is NOT William's wife.... she is the lodgers wife! So Ada is a Bullock.

Benjamin is not the son of William, but most probably his brother......

Margaret is def the mother!!!!

Soooooo....it's most likely the children are related!

Denise I think our posts crossed - my understanding from the 1891 census is that Kezia is a male.

Wayne/Tracey - My interpretation from the census was Kempster too so think you are right. I havent yet tried to see if they are related in any way.

Thanks for all your help - I am a bit of a novice at the mo so still lots to learn in finding the best ways to get information

HI Denise & Selena

Thank you for your help - the 1891 census record is definitely them.
I believe that one of the Alberts above is going to be the other brother. I am veering more towards the Aston one as that is where the others seem to be registered.

I have found Rose married to Charles Wood in 1901 census but cant find any trace of Albert or Kezia - any ideas where I go from here to try and locate them?

Thanks again for taking the time to assist me.

I came across this,

Marriages Sep 1916 (>99%)

Bolton Josep Thorne Foleshill 6d 1191
Thorne Keziah Bolton Foleshill 6d 1191

On the census I thought it was a boy, so am I wrong??

Kempoter has to be a mistranscription...there are no BMD's for that name...

...Could they be a relative and the children misdiscribed on the census?

Hi Vanessa,

What (if any) relationship are the families to the Thorne children on the 1891 census??

Is Kezia a male or female?
