Brilliant! Thank you Christine. I think you may have solved the mystery of the confusion over Smith and Lock/Gyles. I now have something to work on. Genealogy is often much easier with two pairs of eyes looking. Thank you Ellen

A big thank you to everyone that has help to solve this mystery. I have just had it confirmed that Emily Letitica Smith married John Edward Locke Giles in Benson.

His fathers name was John Locke. So maybe John Edward used both names as surnames at some time or other.

Couldn't have done it without your help.
