Sylvia Report 22 Aug 2008 18:57

OH THANK YOU

Kay????

Kay???? Report 22 Aug 2008 18:54

Sylvia,

how old is ivy on both her marriage certificates do they match..?

her birth may have missed the transcribing into the GRO.. so wont be in the indexing,,,,,,,,,,,,and you may need to apply direct to GRO Southport for a search giving Sarah &William as parents,, you will get her mothers maiden name from this,,,,,

Please read the Tips for Newbies thread.

You should have given us ALL the info you already had - that another set of people had spent time looking up for you before. People have good hearts on here but when they have wasted half an hour each looking for info already available to you, it can be very upsetting.

Sylvia Report 22 Aug 2008 18:38

I am waiting for that cert to come in the post. fingers crossed

Sylvia Report 22 Aug 2008 18:36

I only have a copy of Ivy's marriage cert to my grandad ( John Bellaby ) Ivy Cotton widow. married 4th Dec 1922 . her fathers name as William Mariner

She was married at St Clements Church in Kensington (north) London
Her first husband's name was George Cotton

Heather Report 22 Aug 2008 18:27

OH NO. Sylvia, you have already been given all this information.

Please read Tips for Newbies.

You need to buy the certificate for the second marriage to find Sarah's maiden name. As we cant be sure what her fathers first name was - the John marriage to a Sarah is likely but you state his name should be William.

Guys, duplicated thread.

But wasnt father William? This is all very odd. Has anyone found a birth ref for Ivy or Edith? Or a marriage for Sarah Mariner to a Buckley? or indeed a marriage for William Mariner to a Sarah? Or should that be John? (My head is aching :))

This looks like the family in 1891 but the name is Warner. Looking at the original it could possibly be Marner:
1891 census
128 Portobello Rd., Kensington, London
John Warner, head, 37, cab washer, born Hampshire
Sarah, wife, 34, born Berkshire
Edith E., dau, 6, scholar
Ivy, dau, 4, scholar
William John, son, 1
Children all born Notting Hill.

Sylvia,

do we know for definate her name was MARINER.

Would you let us know her husbands name and where they married and when.

Ordering that cert will give Ivy's fathers name.
