Find Ancestors

Hello Julia,
I understand you want to find children of this couple but without a marriage I'm not sure how to proceed. I must admit that I'm not the best for 'descendant' research, I'm better at ancestors.
I was born in England but now live in France.
When I was foot loose and fancy free, I worked two summer seasons in Switzerland, firstly in Weggis and the following year in Zurich.

Marvellous. Unfoturnately I cannot ask any realtions of my father, George Harold Marshall, as I do not know any of them. I will try to follow up the Marriage of Muriel Marshal as I do know this was his sister. I also know from the death certificate of George H that he died in Warwickshire so his wife Beryl who signed the death certificate may be the one in the death you discovered. I especially want to discover any children from this marriage. Have you any tips how I would go about it?
What country do you live in Catherine - I live in Switzerland.

Catherine, Where did you find information on George H Marshall's death. I finally have the certificate and his wife was Beryl but I cannot find anywhere information on their marriage or her death. what sources do you use. thanks

If his exact date of birth was 17th June then it's a really good chance it's him.
If this is the case, at least you know the area that he moved to.
The death certificate will give you the address he was living at and the name of the person that registered the death. This is usually a relative, wife, son or daughter, but could be a doctor or someone else if he was living on his own or was in a home.
Hope it isn't him, but if it is, at least it will give you something to go on.

My mother is dead and I have had no contact with any of the family ever. All my aunts and uncles who may have known him are dead.

Once you have his parents names you can find any possible siblings from freebmd.
Does your mam not know any of his brothers or sisters or any of his living relatives?
The easiest way to find out what happened to him is to ask someone. Surely someone in his family must know where he is or what happened to him ?
Have you no contact with any aunties, uncles or cousins from your dads side?

Yes I am sure of the dates as I have a copy of the marriage certificate of George H and my mother in 1940. It states he was born in 1916 in Durham. In the meantime I have the numbers for his birth certificate which is 10a 762 and have ordered a copy but this will not help me to go forwards in time to whom he married after my mother and where he moved to. Would love some suggestions please.

Many thanks for your responses. George H Marshall was my father who divorced my mother after my birth in 1945 and disappeared from my life. I do know he married again and would like to trace the new family. All the information is wonderful and now II have had great success in tracing ancestors backwards (before 1916) but have no idea how to trace forwards. Any suggestions?
