Hi Tasha,

Thats a difficult one, unless you know of any siblings names which may make a difference.
To be absolutely sure at this point I would order a copy of her birth cert, this way there is no room for error.
If you apply direct to the king's Lynn regestry office it should only cost around £7.50 , I have found ringing in advance to check the cert price always helps to speed things up? or call in if you are local.
I found picking my relatives brains about aunts uncles etc always helped.

Hi Tasha,

couldnt resist looking at the original 1901 census image and Thomas Richardson was a Loco engine driver ? his son Thomas age 16 was a Railway engine fitter.
Their address is given as Jubilee Terrace, Saddlebow Rd, Kings Lynn

Whilst you are waiting for all those certificates to arrive you could try practicing on the freeBMD site mentioned above to get used to the layout and information.

For example if you do a search for All Types, Dorman in Kings Lynn you get info from 1839 to 1925.

You should see Gladys birth and also the info needed to order a certificate (Volume/Page Number etc).

You will also see that lower down the page that after 1911 the mothers maiden name and spouses maiden names can also be seen, which helps tracking possible siblings.

That info also helps find marriages of parents.

As another example if you look further up the page you will see records of marriages.
If you click on the page number you should see a list of possible spouses.

What I do is look at the previous male marriages and try to find the names on the census. The two previous male marriages for instance Bertie and Frederick William can both be found on the census, and looking at the 1891 census are probably brothers. They look like they are the sons of William T and Elizabeth.

Looking back on the freeBMD page you can see a marriage of a William T in 1877. This then means you can look for people on the free 1881 census here:

http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp

And the search goes on.

Good Luck

Dave

Hi Tasha.

Like you I started with a few names way back in 2005, now my tree is over 1000 names, so as you can see it is quite addictive. I joined Ancestry.co.uk and found this to be a great help, you can look at the site for free to get an idea, also there are many free sites you can find and for some more inspiration dont forget to watch who do you think you are tonight,

If you need anymore help feel free to ask me and I will do my best

Enjoy your cuppa

Linda ( MSK thats my husbands initials )

Just had a quick look! wow did not expect quite so many Thomas Richardson marriages in that area!! how ever there is one in the DecQ 1883 district of registration Gateshead for

Thomas Richardson

Catherine Coulthard

could be yours as the dates and area is about the right time before their first child is born.
