Find Ancestors

on Scotlands people there were only 2 Lewis MacIntoshs born between 1825 and 1835 when you do not select an area. Both were born Ross and Cromarty and the other in Inverness but none have the parents John macintosh and Ann fraser.Not even the 1 from Abernethy Morayshire came up!!

Need to find them in a census record to see they exist!!

You don't give up easily do you and I don't go to bed very easily either. find it difficult to give up.

Found on family search.org and on Scotlands people that John [ father to Lewis] was born at Loechil Cushnie to Lunie Macintosh and Jean Clerk .

In 1861 and 1871 Lewis wife Catherine is at West hallhead which I would take to be the same place as on your census records just spelt differently.

This intrigues me more and more as to when Lewis was born and where.

Think I will have to leave it now for tonight and get back into the search tomorrow.

All the certificates I have opened from that area seem to state parish of Loechil Cushnie.

Leochel Cushnie was a parish in the county of Aberdeenshire, in Scotland. It was created in 1845 and abolished in 1975. It was also known as Leochel and Cushnie and Lochell and Cushny.

Think he[ Lewis] definately was born in Loechil Cushnie as all the other family marriages and deaths are there.

Think I may need to look at census records for his parents. John Macintosh and Ann fraser who probably lived around Loechil Cushnie as John was born there in 1802. I now have birth certificate for him .

Any of the 1841 census look possible?

Marriage certificate for him names Ann fraser as his mother and John Macintosh as his father just as the death certificate states.

Mystery as to where he was born and when exactly!!

Are all the family details given on a Scottish marriage cert. i.e does death and marriage info match ok

Never thought of that. But have found on Scotlands people birth record for Lewis father John Macintosh and he was born in Loechil Cushnie so think Lewis would have been as well. Perhaps that narrows down my search.

I have looked on http://www.familysearch.org but can only seem to match Lewis about that age to John mother Janet . You may have better luck as you know the areas.
Just a thought as details on death cert would have been given by someone who thought they knew parents .Could Ann be a 2nd wife to John but the only one that informent would have known.Hope you understand what i am trying to say??

Tried scotland people again and no Lewis Macintosh's born to John Macintosh and Ann fraser and yet is his parents names on his death certificate.

Lewis married Catherine Crawford at Loechil Cushnie in 1857 so perhaps he did come down from Abernethy to work.

This is a puzzle as I was always led to believe that Lewis [1831] was born and lived all his life in Loechil Cushnie.

He did marry Catherine there and died there but have no proof yet he was born there.

Not too sure about him being in Inverness as this would have been a veery long way to go to work away from home in them days.
