BINGO!

Got him - yes, I confess I missed him the first time round!!! I'll blame this on the fact that I didn't know about the middle initial and was looking for the district of Northumberland!!!

Here you go:

John R Peake, 1, 1956, district of Newcastle T,
Ref - 1b 85, aged 34yrs.

Hi Eddie,

Well just searched 1941-1949 - getting desperate now! - but found nothing.
As you've mentioned John's birth - this looks a likely entry - I also noticed he had a middle initial.

John R Peake, mmn Wilson, Q2, 1921, district of Tynemouth, 10b 695.

I struggled to find a marriage for your grandparents but then realised your grandmother married twice.

Mary E Wilson married John R Shale, Q1, 1912, district of Morpeth, 10b 511

Mary E Shale then married William R J Peake, Q2,1919, district of Newcastle T, 10b 254

Is the above correct? Or am I on the wrong path completely!

I've searched for John's death from 1954-1959 but Ancestry has frozen on me so can't do any more searching for you at the moment.

What I mean is that there is a way of searching just the images - quarter by quarter - on FreeBMD - not the transcribed records.

Go to their main page, go to "View Images" and follow the instructions.

Eddie.

The Free one only goes up till about 1927 after that you'll need the complete index which i use on Ancestry

I'll have to look for John a bit later an Ancestry is playing up

Eddie

You can use FreeBMD and search the images. It's a little slower than using Ancestry or one of the other sites but it is possible. Try it.
