Do you have his death certificate? Do English ones mention the mother's name? What was his father's occupation on the wedding certificate? |

I have an ancestor that had a son before her marriage and he was registered in her maiden name. In the later census his surname was the same as her husbands. He kept that name all his life even though it was not his birth name. Perhap your grandfather was born before his mother's marriage. |

I have checked Crowland and it comes under Spalding 7a. I put marriages for William Lane and there is a marriage comes up for 1909 Spalding 7a but 2 males and only one brides name.. That could be the parents marriage. If it was the right one and you had the mother's maiden name from the marriage certificate it could help you perhaps. Irene |
