Looking for:

John Tomlinson born c1849/50 Kirkby/Papplewick Nottinghamshire

1851 - Census with his father and mother - born Papplewick
1861 - Census with parents - born Kirkby.


Also his brother George born c1854 Kirkby. He's missing on 1871 and 1891

Their parents are

Samuel Tomlinson born 1833 Kirkby in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. It seems Samuel married three times in total. George and John's mother is Mary born c1833 Papplewick, Nottingham. She died in 1866 and Samuel re-married to Jane Chadbourn(e).

Jane died in 1873 around the time she gave birth to a second daughter by Samuel.

Samuel then marries for a third time to an Ellen, but has no children by her.

I've checked and trawelled through BMD records.

George appears on 1861 when Samuel is living with his Grandmother and in 1881 back at home, working as a Coal Miner. Not with the family in 1871.

Samuel then marries Jane Chadbourn(e) in Mansfield District 1867.

Jane give him 2 daughters.

Elena 1873

Jane dies in 1873, I'm assuming either giving birth to Elena or shortly thereafter. I forgot to make notes but I think Elena's birth and Jane's death were registered in same quarter.

Samuel then marries Ellen Perry in Nottingham in 1875, but has no children with her. She's 7 years older than him.

So maybe it was just me you were ignoring seeing as i posted the info just after you last night and it was there up till 7ish tonight

I wonder if you could help with this one. Living with Samuel and his grandmother in 1841 Census is a Hannah Tomlinson born c1821. I can't find anything at her for at IGI and would like to know whose child she is if possible.

Unfortunatley the baptism disc doesn't cover Kirkby for some reason! that's why I can't find any of Samuels children.

Hannah Tomlinson married William Straw 6/3/1846 Kirkby in Ashfield. If it's any help

I found all the boys's bar Tom's at the IGI. Can't find anything for the two girls, a trip to Notts record office in offing soon though.

I have them up to 1851 Census, living with their grandmother, Mary Tomlinson.

Marriage for Mary Scothorn to Samuel Godly 13/2/1860 Kirkby.
Ann Scothorn to George Green 14/6/1857 Kirkby.

I wonder if George and Ann emigrated, can't find any trace of an Ann Green born c1834 in Kirkby following their marriage.
