Find Ancestors

Looking for birth for francis george kelly he married emily margaret crotty 1918 Forbes Australia. He died between 1940 and 1957. My grand mother wa born in 1933 said he died when she was 7 years old. Was told he was born in formbes but cannot find anything for him. or emily crotty.

Do you have their marriage certificate ?
It should have (at least) their fathers names which should help in the search

Have a birth date for francis 28 Aug 1896 Died 1941

Christine if you do not already have them you will need to buy his marriage and death certificate.
The registration numbers are in my earlier threads

They can have lots of extra info on them.
The info on the marrige certificate will have been given by Francis so should be reasonably accurate.

The info on the death certificate is given by an informant and is only as accurate as their knowledge, but may give you a place to search for his birth.

Just found out amanda and william are definately francis kelly parents. amanda maiden name is collits.

You might have to check the parish records for a Baptism.

Julie can you tell me i am trying to search for a kelly on my side i am not having much luck finding anything out on him his name is Patrick Kelly married Ellen Bourke in 1853 victoria his death certificate says he was 35 years old when he was married which then makes him born in 1818. he died in 1858 Victoria it also says he was in NSW 4years and Victoria 5 years and before that Ireland. So am i right to tink he came to Australia 1949 i cannot find anything on his birth or him comin to Australia. If you could help would be great

If his death certificate states that he was in NSW, Vic. and Ireland, I would assume that he was born in Ireland.
Unfortunately, you will probably never find his birth info. I have family from Ireland, (also Kelly, plus other) and as far as my family tree goes, its starts after they arrived here.

Only found this one..slight difference with age and your approx. birth date ..but depends when his birthday was..

Could he have been a widower at the time of that marriage. ?

i guess anything is possible yes got his Marriage certificate to Ellen Bourke. i guess there is no way i can find out if he was a widower

If you have their marriage certificate and it doesn't say whether he was single or widowed and do not know of any other way to find out.

Did not see any deaths for an Eleanor Kelly in NSW, nor any children born to Patrick & Eleanor

I noticed when checking out you info. that there are 2 marriages of a Patrick Kelly to an Ellen Bourke.
1 in 1852 (reg.no. 1487) and the other in 1853 (reg. no. 41386) both R.C. Melbourne.
I wondered if it was the same couple, and if there was different info on the other certificate.??

My Kelly's are from a a convict woman who was transported along with her 3 children in 1845

i got the 1853 certificate and i just double checked it and there is nothing on it suggesting another marriage for him
can you tell me where eleanor and Patrick get of the ship?
