On the first one, April 23rd., their names have been crossed off the list. Missed the boat, perhaps?

On the Ellis Island site which is free, you just have to register. They are:
William Cowans, 51, miner, born Bishopeackland? (probably Bishopwearmouth
Harriet, wife, 50, housewife, born Abstillery?, Wales
David R., son, 17, miner, born West Cornforth
Sylvia, daughter, 8, scholar, born Earthowla?
Lydia Langley, niece, 19, domestic servant, born Houghton
All from Dawdon, nearest relative son of William & Harriet, 24 Adolphus St., Seaham Harbour.
They're heading to Akron, Ohio to join son, Jno, 33 Chireta? St., Akron.
William says he was previously in America 1887/1888 in Munson?.

Val, after you find the passenger you're looking for click on "ship manifest" to get details. You might have to go forwards or backwards through the pages.
When you find the page with the names take note what line number your person is on. On the next page, where they give destination, there's no names but it's the same line number.
Also click on "ship image" to get a history of the ship and a photograph.
