Deb, I don't think he's the same Harold on the 1901 census. He's just a house painter in 1901 and that's a lot different from being an artistic painter. (No offense to any house painters in the audience) |

In 1861 the father John is listed as a house painter(master) employing 7 men and 3 boys so he really must have run a large business |

just a thought - the marriage in 1858 did not take place in St Chad's as it states registry office or registrar attended. It was quite a big Methodist area so could have been 'registrar attended' (same applies to RC) |
