ErikaH Report 4 Apr 2008 20:51

If you can tell me that both of your husband's parents are deceased, I'll post the info on here..............if not, I'll send the details to you by PM

PM = private message, where sensitive info is sent off-board.

In this case, however, it's not necessary

ROSE Christopher F, MMN Goldthorp Greenwich 5c/542 JFM 1953

With the above info, you can order the birth cert, and find out his mother's full name(s)

Order on line from www.gro.gov.uk, making sure to 'check' the box after the question 'are GRO refs known?'....it will cost £7.00

Never order from any other online source............there are some rip-off sites out there...........

If you have Ancestry you could search the index's for a marriage of a Rose to a Goldthorp.
That would give your MIL first name.
Do you know approximately when they married or when your FIL was born ?

Hi Helen
There is a death reg for Frederick Charles Rose in Canterbury Kent in 1991. Would that be your father in law ? This one was born March 1909.

Sorry Joan yes I had gone to bed last night.I'm pretty sure you have found the right one for me .I did find a short birth certificate for my husband but it does not have his parents names on it.Should there not be a long one with parents names occupations etc? cos we do not have one of those.
Thanks for help

In what years did you get your winter coats from this shop? My husbands mother died in about 1956/57 agedabout 33 .I doubt it was her shop but who knows .I wouldn't even know how to go about finding out as we know absolutely nothing about her other than dying of ?brain haemorrage.

Hi Helen
As Reg says you can order certificates from GRO in Southport. I think short certificates only give the basic info but the ones from GRO have the info on that you will need.
I would start by ordering them
Someone posted Elizabeth Goldthorps birth registration details and so that would give her parents ( BUT I think I remember seeing mother's maiden name as Goldthorp SO maybe there wasn't a father listed on her birth cert.)
Good luck in your search and remember we are here.
As an aside are there Jewish links as both Rose and Goldthorp sound Jewish to me?
Best wishes Joan
