If you get Lily's birth certificate it will have her Mother's maiden name on it.
You can then find the wedding of Emma and William to discover William's father's name.

Hi Everyone

Please see my thread 13/03/2008, I can't seem to find the death of Lily Smithers b.1873, Grayswood, Surrey, England.

Also William Smithers b.1846, (Lily's Father), Grayswood Surrey, trying to find out who his Father was.

I hope someone is able to help please.

Thank you.

On the image it states that William was an Employer but suppose that doesn't necessarily mean that he owned it. He could have been a tennant but employed some men to work for him.

If he owned it then there would probably have been a will when he died.

Hi Christine

This is the correct family but how do I find out if the Smithers family owned the farm or whether they were employees at the farm.

Thank you.
