just looking again and francis wass 1820c would have been nearly 60 when she had son john 1879c!!!!

i have georges brother john born 1879c as marrrying fanny billings born 1879c.

i have marriage cert for john buxton born 1817c to his first wife sarah ann whetton at sutton in ashfield june 13th 1844 both his and sarahs ages are 26 ( i know this can sometimes be wrong.) i believe he then remarried francis wass.

If this is your George, then I'm confused because there is a 20 year age difference between George's father John and his mother Fanny.

Unless, John was married twice both spouses were named Frances.

George Buxton, b. abt. 1862, son of John Buxton (b. abt. 1817) and Frances Wass (b. abt ?). George also had a brother John?

You need to follow the names, dates more closely along with the census records found. Is it possible that the date of birth for the John Buxton (1817) is the wrong one; if in fact, the wife was Frances Wass.

Okay, is the marriage to Frances Wass John's 2nd wife? William Buxton would have been born about 1847 and what an age difference between John and Frances.
