Thanks all for your help. Where is St Lukes in London. I've just typed it into Google Maps and it doesn't seem to register as a district in London. Does anyone know the area? |

St Luke's is an area in the London Borough of Islington in Greater London, close to the borders with the London Borough of Hackney and the City of London, near the Barbican and Shoreditch. The closest tube station is Old Street. The area includes City Road, Finsbury Square, Whitecross Street, and part of Old Street. The name is rarely used today. |

Thanks all for ALL this information. Is interesting that St Lukes is not used today - hence why I couldn't find the place! |

BTW I've looked on the IGI and a possible christening for George gives parents as Henry and Ann. The christening took place at Spitalfields Christ Church, Stepney, London, England on 20 April 1828, although I'd have to prove this is the right George. The other George on the IGI was christened in 1826 and has the middle name Aymand which is quite unusual. My George has never used this name in the census records by the looks. |

Yip, that will be him everyone as he was a Farrier on his son Henry's marriage certificate. Thanks all so much for this! |
