Hi Elsie,

Would this be Lucy's birth registration?

Name: Lucy Mary Cornish
Year of Registration: 1854
Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec
District: Taunton (1837-1974)
County: Devon, Somerset
Volume: 5c
Page: 305

I see that the family are in the Tavistock reg district in 1861 - it looks like the other three births were registered there.

Name: Joseph Alfred Cornish
Year of Registration: 1856
Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun
District: Tavistock
County: Cornwall, Devon
Volume: 5b
Page: 33_

Name: Eliza Sophia Cornish
Year of Registration: 1858
Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun
District: Tavistock
County: Cornwall, Devon
Volume: 5b
Page: 348

One of these two? (Neither fits well with 10 months old in 1861)

Name: Ann Cornish
Year of Registration: 1859
Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
District: Tavistock
County: Cornwall, Devon
Volume: 5b

Name: Ann Cornish
Year of Registration: 1860
Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
District: Tavistock
County: Cornwall, Devon

Hi Elsie,

There are just a handful of people called Joseph Cornish living in Devon and of marriageable age in the 1850s. There are also only a handful of marriages and in theory they can be matched up very easily (esp using the 1871 census, where most of them appear with their brides) - however, the task seems to be beyond me at the moment... will check back later to see if anyone has any bright ideas.

(Btw there is a stranded (i.e. unmatched) JC marriage in Jun 1857 in Stoke Damerel. If you use the page number ref only (569) to check for other marriages in that district in the 1850s, it looks like it may have somehow been misrecorded as the wrong year and s/be 1854 - but I'm not sure that I can see how that might have happened....

Dear Ivy,
Family Bible has all children being born Horrabridge 18 all together but one set twins born 11-12-1863 died- Thomas Henry lived 30 hours and Louisa Eleanor lived for 16 Days.
Ann born 4th June 1860 Horrabridge.
Yes I found that that record that couldn't be seen.
According to the family bible the family were non conformist would that make any difference.
The ones you have picked up are my family.
Regards Elsie
