Find Ancestors

I am trying to trace the father of Sarah Rock 1913-1980,
her mother was Rosannah Price and her father George Rock.The parents were married in March 1912 Stourbridge Vol 6c page 154
There was a birth of a George Rock also in stourbridge in Birth Reg Oct/Nov/dec 1879 Stourbridge Vol 6c Page 196

I am wondering if people think I should assume this is the father.

Never assume.

Have you acquired the marriage cert?
Could be clues on there like witnesses, father's occupation etc.

Work backwards from what you can prove.

It's unwise to assume and could be very costly in time and money if you spend ages following the wrong line.

If you bought the marriage certificate of Rosannah and George, you would get their fathers 'names and occupations and hopefully be then able to find the family in census.
Witness names may also prove to be a big help.

Hi. There is an entry on the 1911 census for a George Rock. same birth area and Stourbridge. but he is already married. I would not assume that this one is the one you are looking for unless he married twice. Certificate needed. Ethel.

Hi Lynette - as everyone says you need the marriage cert. This may be one to bear in mind though when you get it.

Just noticed the age on the marriage cert doesn't match her DOB I have, she states she is 20 on the cert meaning she would have been born 1892 not 1879:(
But have found the birth reg for 1892 in March, still in stourbridge
But cannot find her on the 1901 census .

I don't have access to the 1911 census but wondered as both families had lived on islington halesowen at the time of the marriage I didn't know if it would be easier to search by address as there are so many George Rocks' and George prices'.Plus I couldn't find Rosannah living in halesowen in the 1901 census.I didn't know if it was possible to search by address.

The addresses on 1911 census (already posted) exactly match those on wedding cert!!
