looking for any info on cyril griffiths born c1907 possible wales area , was bit of a journey man , labourer ex army according to my dads birth cert ,was living in croyden in 1942 when my dad was born married to beatrice . cyrils father was tom griffiths, my dad was adopted out and tried to trace his family he found a brother of cyrils in cudworth barnsley many years ago with a daughter doreen , they told him his father was a waste of time , that was the extent of communication ,as yet i an unable to move forward , any help advice welcome jeannette

on cyrils marriage cert it says father tom griffiths deceased no occupation shown , witnesses were l.k. young and j.t hewitson , when my dad met his dads brother no names were exchanged , my dad remembered them visiting him when he was in lee home childrens home at scholes huddersfield the mans daughter was doreen he thinks she was approx same age as him born c1942 , age of cyrils brother unknown

No other has a father Thomas or Tom.

There was one other poss in Sheffield as mother was a widow,but on looking at 1901 of the family the husbands name was Albert.

So that only leaves the one really..

JanSmith's 1911 in Merthyr is - parents John + Mary - brother Thomas.

However, there is this one as a possibility if I could just find out that brother's name + father's occupation etc ???

There is a birth for a Doreen Griffiths in Barnsley reg district in 1942 and no others round about that time .

And a probable marriage for the parents in 1938 of her.

I will PM it to you as she may well still be alive...

There is a James Griffiths on that 1911 with Cyril in Barnsley.

But it may of course be totally the wrong family although they are in the right area...

There was a Doreen born at that time in Barnsley but I can't find a marriage for her parents so I can try to connect it to a brother :
