Find Ancestors

would anyone know how to go about this. I have in my tree a jane davidson who was a widow, her year of birth was 1858 she was born in dufton, her daughter was mary ann davidson born in 1885 ish in temple sowerby she also had a son called joseph shield ( I think he was born out of wedlock) I dont know how to find her husbands name, I know she lived in temple sowerby after he died but I dont know whether he ever lived there.Her maiden name was shield
