Find Ancestors

I have a marriage reference of Catherine Carles marriage Sept qtr 1886 St Geo E but cannot find a matching reference to her supposed husband George Howard. Have tried Howard variants with no success. Would you get a marriage cert on her reference only. Have not struck this before. Sheila

I can't locate a marriage under that name can you give the reference numbers please.
You don't need both names to order the cert. but it is always best to double check first.

No Howard and all the people appear to be there so either it is the wrong marriage or she married someone else at that time. She may have re-married later.

Yes , thank you Astra, my next reference that I am sure of, is the 1881 census where George Howard is Head Catherine is wife. The first daughter Louisa, was born 1867/1868, surname Howard. So I came to the conclusion she had married George Howard. Thanks for your help

Sue, thank you. I did a search too but you have done better I did not find another male on page 826. but I was looking for the Howard surname, since as you may see from my other reply, the first daughter born 1867/68 is Louisa Howard in the 1881 census.

Looks like Catherine Carles married Peter Jordan he probably died and then she married George Howard.

In the 1881 census the children probably used their step fathers name

George john Folley, his second marriage, his children were half sister's to my grandmother. It gets complicated. This had thrown a new name into the pot. I'll digest all this. Thanks
